TedX featuring Chris Dyer on errors vs. mistakes

Company culture expert Chris Dyer leading talk on how failures don’t have to suck and how remote leaders can overcome pandemic barriers

LOS ANGELESSunday, Chris Dyer will be delivering a “Why Failure Doesn’t Suck” TedX talk unpacking how to differentiate between failures and mistakes. Dyer’s talk also features components from his newest remote work leadership course. You can watch a sneak preview here and on Sunday watch the full talk here.

“The power of failure is immeasurable. We often look at missed opportunities and failures as errors, when they were in fact mistakes that resulted in mis-outcomes, that don’t necessarily have to be seen as calamitous, but can be leveraged,” said Dyer. “An error is the result of incompetence, multi-tasking and failed management and execution.”

Dyer, a company culture consultant and remote work expert, has had clients spanning industries and has written books on company culture and remote work. His history of coaching athletics, running his own companies, and serving as a consultant and keynote speaker, has given him a rich experience providing valuable insights into evolving systems, productivity and entrepreneurship.

“Leadership charts a valuable path forward out of failure,” added Dyer. “When successful organizations experience failure, they use it as a gold mine for data and insights. Case studies abound in how mistakes resulted in improved products and services, and innovation. You can take Post-It notes as an example of that. A failed adhesive became one of the most popular office supplies.

The work-from-home (WFH) framework from Dyer’s course introduces new opportunities to scale businesses, vastly improve employee morale, hire top talent wherever you find it, and unite your team across time zones and lifestyles. The training also guides participants through the key steps for hiring, leading, and meeting in a remote business structure to adapt and thrive for long-term growth and agility.

“CEOs must swiftly adapt to new business models in an ever-evolving landscape,” added Dyer. “Leaders face a charge to improve productivity and unity, and boost engagement that enhances moral and work-life balance. My training gives leaders the tools they need to design a remote company culture aligned with the values of a Millennial workforce.”

The course’s highlights include downloading participants on the benefits of a remote business model, integrating WFH practices with a motivating company culture, and essential communication and productivity tools for remote teams. Dyer stresses the proper techniques for managing WFH lifestyle, including mental health and preventing burnout.

Dyer speaks frequently at conferences all over the globe and was named one of Inc.’s Top 10 Leadership Speakers That Can Help Transform Your Company Culture.
